Making Your Passwords Stronger

General

In today's digital world, passwords are like keys to our online lives. It's super important to stay a step ahead of clever hackers. Surprisingly, about 83% of the most common passwords can be cracked in less than a second! Here are some simple tips to beef up your security and protect your info (and your money!)

  1. Make your passwords unique and complex. Mix up letters, numbers, and symbols to create something that's tough for others to guess but easy for you to remember. Instead of something like "123456," go for something like "R3@dy4H3@lthN0W."

  2. Longer is better! Aim for passwords that are at least 16 characters long. The more characters, the harder it is for hackers to crack.

  3. Avoid using obvious stuff like birthdays, pet names, or where you went to school. They're too easy for hackers to figure out.

  4. Don't reuse passwords. Using the same password for different accounts is risky because if one gets hacked, they all could be.

  5. Keep your passwords to yourself. Never share them with anyone, even if they seem trustworthy.

  6. Change your passwords regularly, at least every 90 days. If you think a password might have been compromised, change it right away.

  7. Use multi-factor authentication (MFA) for an extra layer of security. This means adding another step, like a text message code, when you sign in.
