New phishing service named 'Darcula' targets iPhone users via iMessage

Hackers

A new phishing service called 'Darcula' is causing concern among cybersecurity experts. It operates by impersonating various brands and organizations, targeting Android and iPhone users worldwide. Unlike traditional phishing methods, Darcula uses modern technologies and offers over 200 templates to mimic legitimate entities effectively.

What sets Darcula apart is its use of the Rich Communication Services (RCS) protocol for Google Messages and iMessage, which enhances the credibility of the phishing messages. However, this approach comes with its own challenges, such as Apple's restrictions on accounts sending high volumes of messages.

Despite these obstacles, Darcula's phishing attempts continue to evolve. Users are advised to be cautious of any messages urging them to click on URLs, especially if they're from unknown senders or contain suspicious elements like grammatical errors or overly enticing offers.
